Inspiration

My work has been influenced by many artists over time, and my artistic world view is constantly evolving. Here is a list of my all-time favourite visual artists:

Banksy

One of the most mysterious artists around, his true identity is still unconfirmed. He is a graffiti artist who started out in Bristol, but has exhibited his work the world over. I love the subversive, anti-authoritarian nature of his art, and as well as being funny, a lot of the things he does are genuinely beautiful.

Alfred Hitchcock

This man is a legend of film-making. An international icon, he was a pioneer in his cinematic techniques, creating timeless classics in the suspense genre including Psycho and The Birds. He has been a major influence on my own attempts at film-making, though I've never managed to create the kind of atmosphere he achieved in my own work!

Alison Lapper

A truly inspirational figure, Lapper has become a renowned artist despite being born without arms. She paints with her mouth, and questions established views on physical normality and beauty by using herself as the subject of her work, which also includes photography and digital imaging. A sculpture of her by Marc Quinn stood in Trafalgar Square from 2005 to 2007.
